Tomato Rice


Tomato Rice is another recipe that will break boredom with rice menu in your kitchen.
Like Pudina rice, it is simple to make in 10-12 min.

 Ingredients

  • Tomotoes 4-5 big ones (will make serving for 4 people)
  • Onions 2 medium sized
  • Chana Dal and Urid Dal (Lentils) 1 small spoon
  • Mustard seeds
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Green Chillies (optional)
  • Ginger (a Small piece)
  • Garlic (optional)
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coriander Leaves
  • OilSalt
  • Turmeric
  • Cooked Rice 

Method

In a pan add oil, once the oil is hot add lentils 10 sec later and mustard seeds and Cumin seeds. Once the mustard seeds crackle, add the finely diced onions with ginger, garlic (paste or finely chopped), Green chillies and curry leaves. Once the onions get transparent add tomatoes. Two min later add turmeric and salt. Cook till you see oil in the sides of pan (this means that your sauce is cooked).
Once the sauce is ready, you can add cooked rice into this and mix it with the rice softly. Take care not to mash up the rice.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Tip

You can also use this food in travel as it has no curry or gravy and it can stay fresh for long.
